The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued an
Extension of Regional Emergency Declaration No. 2026-001, effective
February 3, 2026, in response to the ongoing impacts of severe winter storms and below-normal temperatures
across much of the United States.
This declaration provides continued
emergency relief from Parts 395.3 and 395.5 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
, specifically those governing maximum driving time for property- and passenger-carrying vehicles. Relief is granted for motor carriers and drivers providing
direct assistance. This extension remains in effect through
11:59 PM (ET), February 20, 2026, or until the end of the emergency, whichever occurs first.
